Sahil Jagtiani Presents ‘SSJ Productions’ to the world of Music

Sahil Suraj Jagtiani, the renowned spiritual composer, singer, guitarist, keyboardist producer & music director launched his own music label ‘SSJ Productions’ today to scale up his work and give meaningful music to the world under the genre of Bhajans, Spiritual Chants, Hindustani Classical, Western Classical, Pop and Rock with many other passionate artists. 

Sahil Jagtiani is a senior faculty member with the Art of Living Foundation and an ardent follower of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji, who has been committed to spread message of love and peace through different workshops and contemporary spiritual music across the globe for almost two decades. This led him to have a mass appeal amongst a universal audience, especially the youth. 

On the 22nd of February 2017, SSJ Productions was launched at the Press Club of India  showcasing 22 music albums from its catalogue. Prominent senior journalist C. T. Joshi inaugurated the event launching the music label and production house SSJ Productions  At the event 5 musical artists who have recorded for the label sang at the event - Ravi Prakash, Jyothsna & Radhika, Kumar Satyamm & Sahil Jagtiani himself.

The album & launch concert event were officially unveiled and blessed at the Art Of Living Bangalore Ashram by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Refreshing New Perspective

As I write this blog I feel, after a torrid couple of years, quite at one with myself and thought it best to put for my thoughts on paper so that maybe those in a similar boat can also benefit from this.

Sometimes we think that righteousness and truth walk hand in hand but if anything, the last few years have made me realize that this world is filled with all possibilities and that even the righteous can be untruthful and truth can also be unrighteous. Seeing some much injustice and challenges in India and also in my business and spiritual life I would sometimes feel helpless and completely demotivated. But I found that the more I tried to change things and prayed that the divine would change things, things didn't change..... but I did! I still will never shy away from speaking the truth but won't let the outcome affect me anymore as there is no point. Truth and life are multi-dimensional and today's truth may just as well be tomorrow's lie. I have seen betrayal by some of my nearest and dearest... but I still am watching! I have seen my own students let me down in my time of need... but I am still watching! I have seen musicians making lakhs of rupees singing my own compositions while I was in the grips of being broke... but I am still watching! I saw an employee of mine steal my own hard worked source code and steal my office document... but I am still watching! I have also seen how people have insulted me without any reason, even without me interacting with them let alone me having done anything to them... but I am still watching! Just when I thought things could not get any worse.. they did... but I am still watching! Sometimes the purpose of life is not to change the situation, but rather to watch and observe that this world is filled with all possibilities and that everything and everyone will always change.... While You Watch!

Karma is Karma. Whether you like it or not you have to go through it with or without His Grace! It sucks but you do have a choice to either watch or go Mad! In the peak of despair there is only one thing that will keep you alive.... Opposite Values Are Complementary! This too shall change!

Now I am seeing how things are improving, music is flowing and life seems to be getting back on track.... But I Am Still Watching! And thats All.....

Released by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji on 28/8/2011, "I Belong To You" is Sahil Jagtiani's 11th studio album which sees him blend rock, dance and bhajan styles to give an edgy new spiritual album. The 11 song album is well produced and each of the songs are totally distinct and unique. Tracks such as the rock ballad "Shankara", the slickly produced club mega mix "Om Namo Narayanaye", the upbeat "Rang Rang Sang Sang" and the Islanders mix of "Shankara" are sure to get you grooving. The title track "I Belong To You", the serene "We Are Opening Up" and uplifting "Jaan Tu" add the pop flavor to the album. "Jeene Do" send home an important message with a groovy rock beat, "Thanks Mr. Cook (Instrumental)" is a powerful string section to funky rhythm, "Riding The Breeze (Instrumental" is a guitar based dance track and "eTERNITY (Instrumental)" is a soothing piano composition. Most of the songs are composed, programmed, sung, arranged, mixed and mastered by Sahil. He has also played guitar and keyboards for most of them too. As in his previous albums he sticks to bringing out melodious Sanskrit Shlokas as the main driving force behind most of these tracks.

Criticism is a part of life

Anywhere you go you will get praise and then criticism. The nature of the mind is to praise when happy and criticize when unhappy. This is the way it is. As an artist one wants praise but as someone on the spiritual path it is equanimity one must strive for. How to get it? Sadhana and spiritual practice will only take you to a certain point. Beyond that it is only a willingness and courage to listen to the disrespectful and distasteful stuff that will make you centered. If criticism is for growth then listen assimilate and change. If not then simply smile, listen and move on! This is called applied knowledge. Just the other day I got to practice this. If I got shaken then the whole purpose of that test or lesson from Guruji would have been lost. One should not only listen, but one should also have the courage to stand up against injustice and correct people when required.

We are all on this path called life and living is determined by not how much fame or wealth we accumulate but rather how strong and settled we have become. A smile on the outside is just an outer shell but strength from within is the true light! Small incidents come and go, but it is the large ones that determine us as individuals. After handling the larger situations one starts to incorporate perfection in every facet of life.

Avataran 3: Immerse in the love of Lord Krishna

On 13/12/2010 His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji officially inaugurated the album “Avataran 3: Immerse in the love of Lord Krishna” by Sahil Jagtiani at the International Art of Living Foundation Center in Bangalore, India.

The album consists of ten songs which are contemporary bhajans dedicated to Lord Krishna. It has a universal appeal and incorporates many styles of music and compositions. The first track “O Radhe Radhe” has a very Traditional bhajan feel to it, whereas track 2 “Radhe Govinda Shyam” is a very strong Choir based song with Celestial Harmonies. Track 3 “Ghanshyam” has a Contemporary Latin touch to it and Track 4 “Hari Hari” is a Bhangra Dhol Mix for which a Music Video is going to be made. Track 5 “Namo Namo Krishna” has an uplifting and powerful World Music appeal. Track 6 “Om Namo Bhagavate” is a sublimely meditative and harmonic slow chant. Track 7 “Krishnaya Muralimanohara” is a Garba style bhajan and track 8 “Bhaja Govindam” has very heart touching lyrics with a World Music flavor. The Instrumental track 9 “Leaving Brindavan” is a haunting flute melody and the last track “Jai Jai Radha Raman Hari Bol”, which is also an instrumental, covers a broad range of both Indian and Western instruments.

Sahil Jagtiani is the lead singer, guitarist, keyboardist, arranger and music director for this album, and he has even mixed and mastered most of the tracks. He has been involved in Western music from his teenage years. He has played in two progressive and multi-cultural soft rock bands from Hong Kong and London during his high school and college days.

When he met H. H. Poojya Sri Sri Ravishankarji, he knew that he had found his Guru & Mentor. Guruji’s breathing techniques made such a positive impact on Sahil that he decided to devote his entire life to spreading Guruji’s message of love and peace, and he became a Full Time teacher with the Art of Living Foundation. Sahil has done satsangs all over India and in aid of charities such as “Cancer Kids” and participated in festivals such as “The Kala Ghodha Festival” in Mumbai. He has played at an Indian Embassy supported event in the “Mir” Hall in Moscow, Russia and has performed the theme song Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam during the Silver Jubilee Celebrations 2006 at Jakur Airfield in Bangalore in front of almost 2 million people.

This album is Sahil Jagtiani’s third with Times Music and 11th album till date. His music, as well as being very popular within the Art of Living, has reached both spiritual and non-spiritual audiences worldwide and has given bhajans a universal appeal.
